My poor, poor sweet baby. He's sick. Again. I swear its never ending. This past month has been his worst month yet, by far. Three ear infections. Before you go like, Whaaaa? Three? I thought he had one that wouldn't go away? Well let me explain. Let's start with today's events shall we? Because I just had a peachy keen day, how about you? I hope you can smell that sarcasm a mile away. Saturday and Sunday Olivier was the happiest baby on the face of the planet. Laughing his head off, being a little devil and just being happy to not be in pain anymore. Well it lasted less than 48 hours after his last does of antibiotics. Then, at 1 am last night, he woke up. Crying. Again. Pulling his ears. Again. So at 7 we packed up, dropped Jonathan off at work and off Ollie and I went to CHEO to get this taken care of ASAP. Again. We went through registration just fine (although the intake nurse was the same as last time and I was not fond of her). Then we waited, not too long, but long enough. Finally a doctor came in. Well a first year resident. I swear to god it was his first day out of med school. He did the usual, asking questions (he asked the same question 5 times and I repeated 5 times, before he would realize I answered his questions) and then he looked in Olivier's ears. First he said the right side was a little pink with a little fluid. Not bad though. Then came the left which I was sure he was going to jump back from in terror. Oh no, there was a wax buildup. So off he went to talk to his boss then came back to clean it out. Sooooo didn't work so he went off to get the stuff he needed to flush it. Partly worked so then he tried the scraper again. And he did it, but managed to cut Olivier in the process and his ear was bleeding all day because of it. So now he had a clear view. Nothing, just a little bit of fluid but nothing else so it was fine. Hmmmm, this didn't sit well with me. Olivier is not a generally fussy baby. He's a happy baby who doesn't wine or complain or cry for no reason. We weren't getting antibiotics or an ENT referral. As soon as I was in the parking lot I was planning on calling his doctor, who's office was open by this time. I called 10 minutes later and left a message, by the time I got home and Ollie down for a nap (literally took 2 minutes since he was exhausted) the phone was ringing, not his doctor, her receptionist making an appointment in 30 minutes time. Usually Dr Besner calls and asks questions to determine if she needs to see Olivier, she didn't do that this time, he was going in ASAP. One look in each ear, and my little man has a double ear infection and a referral to an ENT. So much for CHEO saying he was fine and didn't need anything. Olivier is now on his third round of antibiotics in a month, each time a different one since the amoxil has no effect on him anymore, and the clavulin didn't really work either. As she talked with me she said she is taking each time we saw someone as a separate ear infection because each time a different ear was affected than the last time. Or in his case, 2 times he had both ears infected. My poor baby, if we had waited 2 more days like the resident said he would have been in so much pain because Dr Besner was like, If his ears look this bad after only a few hours of showing symptoms imagine in two days? At the hospital we didn't even see the actual doctor, he never went to check the residents diagnosis. Idiots. But at least now we are going to be seeing someone who may be able to help Olivier.
I quit my job on Friday! Why you ask? Well I got the job at La Senza! Yay for me! I start tomorrow, my training is in Gatineau, and then next week I will be at the store that is a 5 minute walk from my house. I can go outside on the porch and see the store. I'm so excited! I was so happy to quit Domain des Trembles, you really have no idea. It was just a horrible place to be. The management didn't care at all about the employees, they played favorites all the time, if they didn't like you, or you had a mind of your own and thought on your own, you were in the dog house at every occasion. There was a server who left this week and I know of at least 3 or 4 other people who are looking for other jobs and are interviewing. I felt sad leaving on Friday though, it was a place I used to love working so much and I really did love the residents, I just couldn't work for Allegro anymore. But I'm moving on and up!
On Sunday we went for a walk with Chantal, Tony and the kids and Amelie came with us. This is the second weekend in a row we've walked from the Gatineau side over to the Byward Market and spent the morning there, usually about 3 or 4 hours I think, yesterday we started at 9.30 and got back to the car at around 1.30. We had a ton of fun and Olivier got his halloween costume! A Dalmatian, from Old Navy. He looks cute. We just put it on him quickly to make sure it fit (it was a 6-12 months, but the boy is so small, and he lost weight in the last week too, about a pound, from being sick off of the clavulin) so I snapped a few pictures.

I need another story...Tell me what you want to hear...
So first off let me just say that my baby is no longer a baby, but a full blown toddler. He's walking, semi talking and just had his first birthday. This year really did fly by. When I was pregnant the time seemed so long and then just went to warp speed when Ollie was born. Insane.
We had his first (of two) birthday parties on Saturday with my mom, grandma, Marc-Andre, Amelie, Chantal, Tony and Tristan and Kylie. We had cake and snacks and had lots of fun, not doing much, just sitting around talking and playing with the kids and it went by quickly.
This weekend coming up is Ollie's baptism, and everyone is going to be there from all sides of the family, mine and Jonathans. So it will be a long but fun weekend I think. The first time everyone will be together. Can we say stress?
Ok now that all that is out of the way. Ugh. I am seriously over my job and work. I need a change. And soon. Otherwise I may go insane. I love the people I work with and the residents but if I stay there much longer I will end up in the loony bin I think. And I like my sanity (or whatever sanity I may have lol). I need a regular job, a 9-5, Monday to Friday type deal. With vacation time I can actually take without being made to feel bad, and sick days and holidays off. Oh and a lunch time where I can actually sit and eat hot food rather than eating standing up while I work. It's totally depressing. And then I have sick days but if I call in sick, someone is stuck working a 12 hour shift so I technically can't call in sick and if I take vacation time its the same thing. I need a change. A shake up. And a new hair color. Maybe that will help for the short term.
Olivier has his 1 year appointment tomorrow. I had my xrays for my back today and a chiro appointment tomorrow. We'll see what happens at both.

The rest is still unwritten
So this past week was Canada Day and my mom's birthday. She wanted to celebrate at the cottage so off we all went, trekking out to the middle of nowhere's to spend a few days at the cottage. My mom, Amelie, Don and Grandma went up on Wednesday, but since I was working on Thursday me, Jonathan, Olivier and Marc-Andre went on Thursday after I got off work. We had lots of fun. We showed up around supper time, with the cake (which is a whole other story) and bags in hand. Ollie had a blast and didn't want to sleep. He woke up around midnight screaming. Finally we got him back to sleep but he didn't sleep well at all. The next morning he was congested too. On Friday we went into Maniwaki to pick up a few things, lets just say I was less than impressed with Maniwaki, their Canadian Tire was smaller than the pharmacy for crying out loud! And how people can survive without a WalMart is beyond me. While we were in Maniwaki we (me, Don and Amelie) were just supposed to pick up a little pool for Olivier, some graham crackers, chocolate, Kleenex with lotion for the baby, a magazine for Amelie and a head band for me...200$ and 2 hours later we were on our back to the cottage lol. We were a little disappointed by the pool. The picture on the box made it look big, this was a tiny little pool, but it served its purpose and Olivier had fun in it.
While Olivier took his nap me and Amelie went fishing off the end of the dock. I was getting discouraged after she had caught her 2nd fish and I had caught none. That was until I hooked something. At first I thought I had just gotten caught on the bottom but then Amelie, who had stood up by this point, started screaming I had a fish. So then we started screaming for Marc-Andre to come down and help us since me and Amelie, we don't fish. I ended up getting a big bass, at least 3 lbs, closer to 4 lbs. We got a few pictures then let him go.
That night Olivier woke up again screaming. This time he was tugging his ear. We didn't want to go to the ER in Maniwaki. Not at all. ER's usually mean a 14 hour wait minimum, so not what we wanted to do. But off we went anyways, back to Maniwaki. We pulled up to the hospital....it was empty. There were 2 people in the waiting room, both healthy and watching the FIFA World Cup. Okay then. We waited a total of 20 minutes, including our assessment time, before we were walking out of the hospital with a prescription for antibiotics for Ollie's ear infection. Let me just say that 1. the dr was a jerk. He never spoke to me, only to Jonathan and when Olivier threw up after he looked in his throat, I caught it in my hand so he wouldn't get covered in milk vomit, and the dr didn't even give me a kleenex, he just washed his hands and that was it. and 2. he doesn't deal with kids often, he practically had Jonathan holding the baby in a headlock to look in his ears and mouth.
The next day, Saturday, we came home, bringing Amelie with us. We had a few errands to run and wanted a day to relax before going back to work. And we went and saw Chantal and Tony as well at their new house so we had a great long weekend!

If you wanted me to rip my clothes off, you could have just asked. It would have been a lot less painful.
Ok so I'm back. Last week was a long and tiring week so I decided no blogging for me. But now that all of that is passed us, I have returned. Lots happened, as you can probably tell, my grandpa passed away. Stephane stayed with us a few days, until his girlfriend Michelle came for the funeral, and then they stayed at my moms for 3 days before leaving. I chopped my hair off...well 6 inches. Jonathan wasn't too pleased. This is what it looks like now:
Those are the pearls my papa gave me by the way. After that Amelie and I went and got our tattoos done. Hers is on her foot, mine is on my back between my shoulder blades.
They will look much better once they have healed, mine is actually almost healed completely already, the fastest I think I've ever healed from a tattoo. Jonathan was pissed when he saw it. I had shown him the picture that morning and for some reason he didn't think that was what we were getting. I have no idea why. He thinks its too big but really its not, both the one on Amelie's foot and the one on my back are the exact same size so obviously they aren't huge. He made me say I wasn't going to get another one, but I think I want one more. An ancient rune this time though. For remembrance.
I started a new book series. I'm thinking of doing a blog, another one, about the books I read. Kind of like I'm reviewing them or something. I read the Mortal Instruments series this weekend, 3 books, and I loved them so much. I'm reading them again. It's easily my favorite book series now.
So I'm ending this post with pictures of Stephane changing Ollie's diaper. Enjoy!

Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are shooting stars?
So Ollie had his appointment at the hospital and it went well! They were very impressed with how much he moves and say he is on the brink of walking. For now they aren't going to do anything about his reflux, once he starts walking his stomach will do a half turn and that should help and once he starts drinking homo milk it will help as well. If after 1 year he still has reflux then they will do something. He now weighs 9 lbs 14 oz, so he is creeping higher in the percentile charts (around 35% I believe she said). He didn't gain much in length but he's already really long! And they also said that we could start giving him yogurt and cheese again and in two weeks if that goes good we will start transitioning him over to homogenized milk, which should also help with the reflux. And he is taking a sippy cup now! After 8 different cups we finally found one that Ollie can drink from!
My grandpa isn't doing well, he had to be moved to and end of life care facility on Friday and the nurses said that they don't think that he has much time left, a week at most. I'm not upset per say, I prepared myself for this when we found out he had cancer so I've said my piece with it I guess you could say. Stephane is coming to visit today, but he was only able to get a couple days off from work. I'm waiting to hear when his bus will be getting in because I am the one going and getting him from the station since my mom is sleeping in grandpa's room, so he will also be staying with us as well.
Amelie has her confirmation on June 19th. We are going to get her a gift, she is after all getting confirmed for us to be Olivier's godmother, but we aren't sure what, we were thinking a necklace or another kind of jewelery. We'll figure it out I guess.
And for the second night in a row Olivier slept the entire night in his bed, he woke up at 6.30 but that was because of Ruby, she was walking around the apartment crying. And he got his 3rd tooth last night too! The top right one smack dab in the center lol. Tomorrow he will start at his new daycare as well! We are excited, it seems much better than the place that he was at before and there are only 6 children there total and one other baby (I think she said that baby was 6 months old).

And the winner of the worst boss goes too.......Me!
And so summer has begun....in April. Not even the end of April but the beginning. Yesterday the temperatures got up to 27 and today they are supposed to go higher than 30! I hate the heat. I hope that this means this summer isn't going to be hotter than usual. Olivier already fits into his summer clothes which is good because otherwise the poor boy would be sweating his little tush off. Today we finally rounded out his summer wardrobe with some sandal and a cute pair of trainers (they look like the classic ADIDAS' with the 3 stripes). I also got a few new things for summer, a couple pairs of cargo capris in black and army green, and some tops. I still need to get a bunch of tanks though.
Yesterday we went to the hospital and saw Marc-Andre. He was in pain but had some morphine for it so he slept a lot, most of our visit in fact. And we saw Amelie and my mom and Don as well. Amelie and I talked about our tattoo and we aren't getting it on our wrists which makes me sad because I really really really wanted it there. We're either getting it on our foot or on our back right under the neck where the t-shirt is. If its there I think I'm going to get it bigger.
And my job. A job I used to love, I now hate, with a passion. I hate my new boss, he's such a jack ass. I'm looking for a new job and I keep asking Jonathan to email the woman for me who had handled his contract but he 'has to find the stuff' and its been over a month and he hasn't done it yet. He keeps saying stuff about how he knew this would happen and its selfish of me, as if I would quit without another job lined up. He has such a bad attitude lately its driving me nuts, he's never happy, always grumpy, always complaining about something and if he can't think of something he just sits there in a bad mood. I'm going insane.

Hello, my name is Joe, its nice to meet ya
Ugh! What a long day yesterday was! It was so draining. Last week my mom called me and told me she had to go back in for heart surgery yesterday. So me, Olivier and Amélie went and spent the morning with her at the hospital until she was supposed to be taken away. She went late, because of an emergency, so we were there for about 5 hours. Ollie discovered a new toy he loves, empty coffee cups. He was making all kinds of noises in them. He was really good, whenever he fussed we would go and take a walk around the floor, he would smile at the nurses and doctors, a few patients and even the two corrections officers who were there for a prisoner with heart problems were smiling at him. The surgery went well, only took 5 hours this time, rather than the 8 it took last time. I think she is getting out of the hospital today, if not then most likely tomorrow. While we were there me and Amélie decided we are going to get matching tattoo's too. I was thinking greek for live.laugh.love. or maybe a group of stars, she wants it on her foot and i want it on my wrist.
Ollie is at daycare right now, for the first time. He's only doing a half day, so I will be going and getting him in about an hour and 45 minutes. Jonathan was super stressed this morning doing it and I wanted to smack him because he was stressing me out more. I almost cried but I didn't. Ollie went with no problems, he was smiling and everything. They have 7 kids (another baby will be going in a couple months) and there is an 8 month old little girl who is there, Chloé, so Ollie has a little baby his age to play with which is nice.
Here are a few pictures we took yesterday at the hospital and then 3 others that i took the other day.

How'd you do that?
So yesterday was kinda uneventful but eventful at the same time. Ollie fussed all afternoon and then when Jonathan got home from work we went to Costco because we needed to get stuff like kleenex and toilet paper etc. Ollie threw up 2 times, I had to take him to the bathroom the second time to clean him up *note to self: bring kleenex with you everywhere* When we were paying at the cash he completely charmed the cashier and he gave a pout as we left, silly boy. We got home and I took Ollie out of all of his gross thrown up on close and just put him in his crib in his diaper so I could wash the dishes. Afterward I went to check on him before starting the laundry and I found him, diaper undone, the little bugger undid it lol. I of course took a picture and he couldn't have looked any prouder.
The first picture I posted I had been trying to get a picture of Ollie while he was fussing, I don't have any and I want one! But wouldn't you know my sneak attack wouldn't work because as soon as he saw the camera he was all smiles!
Today is supposed to be another nice day (not a cloud in the sky as I look out the window) so Ollie and I are taking a walk to go and let him pick out his present for Auntie Amélie's birthday this weekend!

What's my name again? No seriously, whats my name?
So we had another one of those nights, this one was the worst of them all I think. Friday night Ollie went to bed like normal, no problems falling asleep. At 2 am he woke up, I was kind of excited, usually when he wakes up during the night he sleeps later in the morning. But thats if he actually goes back to sleep, Saturday morning he did not. He got in 2 short naps during a 12 hour period and by short I mean, 30 minutes total. Finally at 1.30 in the afternoon he fell asleep...for an hour. The next time he went to bed was for the night at 7, 17 hours and he only slept 90 minutes. But he slept well through the night, cried at midnight, I went in and gave him is suce back and then he slept until 5, not that bad of a night.
This latest picture was taken this morning. My sister Amélie got Olivier one of the official Olympic outfits for babies and we put him in this morning (gearing up for the Olympics!!!). Jonathan thinks its not that great of a picture but I love it! I think he looks so cute.
I'm thinking of getting my hair cut this week, I think I want bangs again, side swept ones but a bit shorter. I'm going to call my hair salon on Tuesday (they're closed Sunday and Monday) to set up an appointment but I bet that they're going to be booked (my hair dresser anyways) so I may not get in until next week. Oh well. I guess that's it for this update, I can't think of anything else to add!

Christmas is coming!
Yesterday Amélie came over and we decorated the tree while Jonathan was at work doing some overtime, we left him the angel so he could put something on it. Ollie didn't want to co-operate too much, he was being Mr. Cranky Pants again. The last two days he's been really cranky, we think either because of gas or because of his teeth. I'm thinking teeth because not long after I gave him some Tylenol last night he calmed down, and he's had some rosy cheeks the last couple of days as well.
When Amélie got here yesterday I handed her Ollie so she could hold him and he burst out crying, a real paniky cry. We were flabberghasted why he did this, he's never cried like that before when someone has held him. And when I tried to show her he could sit, she came on the floor to sit next to us and Ollie had this look on his face, chin quivering, mouth turned down and the 'I'm about to freak out' look so she got back up. Later on we realized that it was her hair! She was wearing it in a pony tail flipped up by a clip so some was sticking up in the back and he didn't like that at all. It was quite funny afterwards and we laughed about, and she took the clip out and was able to hold Olivier and give him bottle before supper time.
And finally a weel after the last time Olivier rolled over from his tummy to his back, he rolled over from his back to his tummy, but I think it was accidental. He was playing with his feet and rolled over, and then got stuck. His legs and lower body were facing down but his arm kept him from fully completing the roll lol.

On a roll!
So Ollie decided that this rolling over thing wasn't a one time event! Today he did it 2 times! Jonathan missed the first time because he was in the bathroom but he caught it the second time, just in time too. I was surprised that he did it again once today let alone twice, I was certain that yesterday was a fluke, but I guess not! I have yet to capture him on film rolling over, he really gives no notice when he is going to do it. It was a stressful day today, but I guess it like that for many people as the holidays are approaching. My sister Amélie called and wants to come over next weekend when we set up the Christmas tree, she's already bought Oliviers Christmas present, a onesie with hat and bib for team Canada for the Olympics, I'm an Olympic nut and when I saw them I knew that I wanted to get him that, so when my sister asked what to get him of course that's what I told her! We don't need much in ways of toys, we dont have a lot of space for them, plus Ollie isn't too into them anyways. We got him a toy and my mom is getting him the Fisher Price Ocean Wonders Jumperoo and my Grandma Cote is getting him the Fisher Price walk n ride for once he starts to walk, which I'm happy she got it for him, that way we don't have to think about it when the time comes. I don't know what to tell people when they ask what to get him, we don't really need all that much, we were lucky enough to get most of the things we needed at our baby shower and as gifts when Ollie was born. The only things we need are clothes over 6 months and money I guess so we can use it for formula, diapers, sippy cups (he'll be starting to use them before we know it and we don't have any!) and things like that and to put it into an account for him as well, but it seems weird asking for that stuff but I guess its really the stuff he needs and thats what people get you at Christmas.

Shots, fevers and mama's always right
So yesterday was Ollie's 4 month appointment with Dr. Besnair and his 4 month shots. My sister Amélie came with us, she had wanted to spend the day with us since she was off from work. Before we left I asked everyone to guess weights and see who was closest. I said 14 lbs 7 oz right off the bat, Jonathan said 14 lbs 4 oz and Amélie said 14 lbs 10 oz. We got there a little early but were taken in right away. The nurse weighed him and I asked how much he was now. No one should ever second guess a mama! I was right on exactly, I was quite proud of myself. The Dr said he's in perfect health and not worry that he hasn't rolled over yet, he still has plenty of time for that! Ollie took his shots better this time than last, it only took a moment to calm him down and I didn't need to give him a bottle this time. Afterwards Amélie and I went for a walk with him and he slept the whole time.
The evening though was a nightmare. Fussy and whiney and he hurt, and was crying, Ollie never cries, he's an insanely easy baby and only fusses when he is hungry or overly tired. I was up with him most of the night though, and slept in a chair with him he was so out of sorts. This morning he had a fever that just didn't want to go away, it was up and then down and then back up again. He's had 3 naps, two of them in his crib and lastest more than 20 minutes (usually thats all I get out of his crib naps but today were both well over and hour). Hopefully the fever breaks soon, it breaks my heart to see him so out of character.
Our weekend was good, we went to my mothers for supper on Saturday and my brother, sister, her boyfriend and my grandparents were there. My mom and Marc-André had gone shopping earlier in the day and had gotten Olivier a new winter hat, and it looks so cute on him. Then on Sunday Craig and Reneé came over with their daughter Lilly and we had a little baby play date. Both babies were enthralled with each other and were chatting and smiling away, at one point they were even holding hands, it was so cute. Hopefully we get to see Lilly again soon!
