No he's not scared, Olivier likes playing peek a boo. I have a picture of him right after this laughing his head off....although it looks like he's crying....I know everyone wants to hear about Olivier's first Halloween, but honestly it wasn't very eventful. We went out to visit a few family members houses and thats about it. He got spoiled, and learned quickly what he had to do, but it was like every other Halloween I guess. Although, my unbiased opinion is, Olivier was the cutest little Dalmatian ever.
Um....We had Olivier's appointment with the ENT on Moday. Big waste of time. We were in and out of the office in 5 minutes. And the doctor is doing nothing except making us go back on November 29. Seriously. I was not happy and highly disappointed. Other than that I am not in the mood to write much more. Nothing has really happened that is interesting. I've been working loads and I feel like I'm never home. It's weird going from working 3 days a week to 5 and working long shifts too rather than just rinky dinky 4 hour ones. But I love working at La Senza so thats good.

Take a breath, take it deep
Ugh. I feel like I'm on a never ending roller coaster which always winds me back up at CHEO. I was back there on Friday night with Ollie. Stupid ear infection. We aren't sure if it just never went away or if it's a new one. The last time we were there they said he may end up needing tubes. Well Friday we got a new antibiotic, Clavulin, which is a double antibiotic, it also has amoxicillian in it, well last night Ollie started to have diarrhea, which is a side effect, but they said if it gets severe or watery then thats not good. Well guess what it was straight from the start? Ugh poor baby. So now we are going back tomorrow. I want to see the ENT while we are there, to see if there can be anything done or what the circumstances are for tubes because its not fun for him to be on antibiotics every month almost or in pain, which I'm pretty sure he's starting to adjust to having.
Last week I had a couple job interviews. One with Masha Krupp which does translation. My interview was just for admin stuff and I thought it went really well, and she said by Friday I would hear something. Well we are Monday and nothing. I'm disappointed, since the woman said she really liked me. Then on Friday I had another one with La Senza for an assistant manager position. That one went well too. But of course as the rest of the day wore on and I didn't get a call from Masha Krupp when I thought that went well I was wondering if La Senza was going to be the same thing. Until last night. I was on Facebook and one of my old bosses (well the only one I have on Facebook lol) messaged me to say he had gotten a call on Friday (right after my interview) for a reference check, so maybe I really did do a good job. I know its not a sit down job but its good for now, to get out of where I am, plus the salary and hours are decent and the benefits and the fact that its a 5 minute walk from my front door. I can see the back of the store looking out the door actually. I was told mid week so hopefully tomorrow or Wednesday and the job I believe will start next week. I can't wait to quit my job now. If I get the job I'm not going for my shifts on Saturday or Sunday. Screw that. lol.
Oh and the most devastating thing happened last week. Ollie got his first hair cut *sobs*. It's not long anymore. It's too short. Of course I lost out on the whole opinion thing, almost every one in our families was like he needs it cut! So it was either me taking him in or getting home from work one day and finding Jonathan got it cut, at least this way I could keep it from getting too short. But still. I miss his long hair :(

I need another story...Tell me what you want to hear...
So first off let me just say that my baby is no longer a baby, but a full blown toddler. He's walking, semi talking and just had his first birthday. This year really did fly by. When I was pregnant the time seemed so long and then just went to warp speed when Ollie was born. Insane.
We had his first (of two) birthday parties on Saturday with my mom, grandma, Marc-Andre, Amelie, Chantal, Tony and Tristan and Kylie. We had cake and snacks and had lots of fun, not doing much, just sitting around talking and playing with the kids and it went by quickly.
This weekend coming up is Ollie's baptism, and everyone is going to be there from all sides of the family, mine and Jonathans. So it will be a long but fun weekend I think. The first time everyone will be together. Can we say stress?
Ok now that all that is out of the way. Ugh. I am seriously over my job and work. I need a change. And soon. Otherwise I may go insane. I love the people I work with and the residents but if I stay there much longer I will end up in the loony bin I think. And I like my sanity (or whatever sanity I may have lol). I need a regular job, a 9-5, Monday to Friday type deal. With vacation time I can actually take without being made to feel bad, and sick days and holidays off. Oh and a lunch time where I can actually sit and eat hot food rather than eating standing up while I work. It's totally depressing. And then I have sick days but if I call in sick, someone is stuck working a 12 hour shift so I technically can't call in sick and if I take vacation time its the same thing. I need a change. A shake up. And a new hair color. Maybe that will help for the short term.
Olivier has his 1 year appointment tomorrow. I had my xrays for my back today and a chiro appointment tomorrow. We'll see what happens at both.

You're hot like the summer heat.
So. Hot. OMG. Gatineau/Ottawa has been breaking records all week with this heat. It's unbearable. Beyond unbearable. We were hitting 44 with humidity easily. In the kitchen it was worse. Much worse. On Tuesday evening for the dinner shift I got a 61 on the temp in the kitchen. I wanted to die. It actually felt like I was in Hell, literally. Actually, scratch that, I'm sure Hell wasn't that hot, Hell probably felt the Arctic compared to here.
I had my chiro appointment yesterday. I came away from that appointment with several things.
Olivier is full blown walking on his own now! I missed it too, I was at work, Jonathan texted me on Tuesday night to tell me. I haven't gotten video of it, he gets excited when he sees the camera so he falls over. And he's teething, yet again, we think its molars this time, or Jonathan does anyways.
On Wednesday night Chantal and I went and saw Eclipse! It was so so so good. Way better than the first by far and better than New Moon as well. It followed the book although there were a few very minor parts I wish that they hadn't cut but nothing major, I know that sometimes things just don't fit or theres not enough time. I am going to see it again though, on Sunday with my Aunt Debbie and with my mother. We are going to see it in IMAX which I cannot wait for. After having seen it I know that its going to be amazing in IMAX, plus a 6 story high Edward? Who wouldn't love that, right?
I had my chiro appointment yesterday. I came away from that appointment with several things.
- Chiropractors should be employed by the US to interrogate terror suspects. That was painful! I have an 8-10 inch bruise on my lower back from a 10 minute treatment yesterday! I was almost crying, if it had been my friend Rahim doing the treatment I'm sure I would have cried and then kicked him in the shins lol.
- I have 2 problems so far. One with a tiny joint at the bottom of my lumbar, when I move in certain ways it either is pinching a nerve, disc or cartilage. The other is with my hip. I didn't quite understand that one, but usually the two things go hand in hand
- I have to get xrays to make sure there is nothing major wrong.
- I need to go back for at least 6 more visits and an adjustment (if my xrays are clear) which means lotsa $$$

Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are shooting stars?
So Ollie had his appointment at the hospital and it went well! They were very impressed with how much he moves and say he is on the brink of walking. For now they aren't going to do anything about his reflux, once he starts walking his stomach will do a half turn and that should help and once he starts drinking homo milk it will help as well. If after 1 year he still has reflux then they will do something. He now weighs 9 lbs 14 oz, so he is creeping higher in the percentile charts (around 35% I believe she said). He didn't gain much in length but he's already really long! And they also said that we could start giving him yogurt and cheese again and in two weeks if that goes good we will start transitioning him over to homogenized milk, which should also help with the reflux. And he is taking a sippy cup now! After 8 different cups we finally found one that Ollie can drink from!
My grandpa isn't doing well, he had to be moved to and end of life care facility on Friday and the nurses said that they don't think that he has much time left, a week at most. I'm not upset per say, I prepared myself for this when we found out he had cancer so I've said my piece with it I guess you could say. Stephane is coming to visit today, but he was only able to get a couple days off from work. I'm waiting to hear when his bus will be getting in because I am the one going and getting him from the station since my mom is sleeping in grandpa's room, so he will also be staying with us as well.
Amelie has her confirmation on June 19th. We are going to get her a gift, she is after all getting confirmed for us to be Olivier's godmother, but we aren't sure what, we were thinking a necklace or another kind of jewelery. We'll figure it out I guess.
And for the second night in a row Olivier slept the entire night in his bed, he woke up at 6.30 but that was because of Ruby, she was walking around the apartment crying. And he got his 3rd tooth last night too! The top right one smack dab in the center lol. Tomorrow he will start at his new daycare as well! We are excited, it seems much better than the place that he was at before and there are only 6 children there total and one other baby (I think she said that baby was 6 months old).

Say What? You got me what?! I got what?!
My little booter is 10 months old on Monday! Only 2 more months and he'll be 1. Yes that's right. 1. When the hell did that happen? I dont think any year has gone as fast as this one. Ever. It just sped along, never bothering to ask if I wanted it to slow down. I guess this just means we're one year closer to potty training? Yea one thing I will not miss is changing diapers, although I am a pro now. I can change a squirming, trying to roll over so I can crawl away or climb something, 10 month old.
I got my pressies from my dad on Thursday. All the things he bought for me while he was away. I got spoiled. Dylan says I've only just realised how spoiled I really am since its the first time I admitted it. I think he was proud of that moment actually....Anyways, back to my presents. First I my dad knows me well...almost too well. Most people would have been like, you got me a mug from starbucks? but I was like, I got a mug from a starbucks in istanbul!! I truly was excited. I heart starbucks...with a passion. One year for Christmas he got me a coffee grinder and kilo of starbucks beans. That was a great christmas.....anyways, moving on. Then I got this little trinkety bronzy thingy from egypt, it opens up and is lined with velvet, I can put my earrings I wear everyday in there or rings (if I had any lol) or whatever in there. I really like and its deceptively heavy. After that I got...a pashmina scarf. At first I was like wtf? Never in my have I ever wanted one. 2 minutes after opening it though, I decided I want more. Many more. Then I got a book mark, papyrus with my name in hieroglyphics on it. OH! And I got a pretty new leather purse from Istanbul as well. It's now my everyday purse. Then came a curiously shaped gift, the box was sloped and kind of rounded. Hmmmm I thought, what could this be? As soon as I opened it I kinda freaked out a little. I got pearls! Thats right people. Pearls. And not just a pair of earrings, or a bracelet. I got the whole kit! Necklace, earrings and bracelet. After that I can't tell you what I got because nothing tops pearls from dubai!

When I get sick its not done half way!
Sooo. Apparently, according to the nurse and the doctor that saw me today, my cold and Ollie's cold= not the same thing. While he has just a cold I have Bronchitis and Sinusitis (otherwise known as a sinus infection). I got sent home from work this morning after 20 minutes and the nurse telling me to go to a walk in clinic. So off I went. 8 hours later I find out I need antibiotics for the next 10 days and I need to take my puffers, both of them, every day for at least the next 10 days, 4 times for one and 2 for the other a day.
Ollie sprouted tooth numero dos during the night, a night of crying every 20 minutes. Needless to say, I have not been getting much sleep.

Is that scale righ? Are you sure? Wow.
So we just got home from Ollie's 9 month check up! No vaccines this time, just a visit with Dr. Besnair to make sure he's doing well. Before we even went into her office she said she didn't even think the visit was necessary since Olivier didn't want to stay on my lap, so I held his fingers and he walked around the waiting room. She said walking at 9 months was huge. So we were in the room and he again didn't want to stay in my lap...he rarely does anymore, he want to investigate and the Dr's office was a new place to investigate so he went off crawling around her. He is perfect, except for his cold. At 9 months he only weighs 19 lbs 2 oz (between the 10th and 25th percentile) and is 28.5 inches long (perfectly average at 50%). He can start to have homo milk BUT since he doesn't like to take his bottle at daycare, just at home and we're lucky to get 3 in a day, she wants him to stay strictly formula for a little while longer. She's not worried about his weight, she said if he's hungry feed him, if he's not, don't (duh lol) but that he is eating enough food so its nothing to worry about. He started to eat what we eat this week....Shepherds Pie on Sunday and Monday, Tuesday we had some chicken, and yesterday some spaghetti (which was not a hit. We cut it up small so he could feed himself....he dumped it on himself and played with it while screaming lol oh well maybe next time)

It's been how long?!? Are you sure it wasn't yesterday?
My little booter is 9 months old today! This is really the first time where I was like, Wow, he's getting so big! Where did the time go? I've been so enthralled watching him get bigger and doing more things I didn't actually realize he was getting bigger! This week was a week of milestones! On Monday he started crawling, and then on Wednesday he finally got his first tooth! Its been 6 days and Ollie has become a crawling machine, he goes all over the place, his latest obsession is the recycling bin so we put that out on the patio for now, it has to be emptied anyways and then we will put it in the laundry room. We have to put up the baby gates now, but we are having a hard time figuring it out. We want to block off the bathroom because Ruby's litter box is in there but we can't because Ruby's litter box is in there and until she learns to jump the gates she'll be stuck. Then I wanted to put it in the hallway but the litter box issue is in play again. Speaking of Miss Ruby she's been sitting around the baby when he plays on the floor, as if she's baby sitting him lol. But the second he gets close she's on the run :P she knows him well enough to know that he'll get a fistful of fur or pull on her tail or paws if he sees an opening. He got her tail the other day, all she did was let out a little cry but stayed where she was, didn't try to run away or anything. She is getting much better with him, he doesn't scare her anymore either.

So this means I'm going to win the lottery right?
Well they say bad things come in 3's. That after a ton of bad and stressful things in your life happening at once you're due for good luck right? So does this mean I'm going to win the jackpot? First my mom's heart surgery. Then Marc-Andre's back surgery. Then my Aunt Debbie has to have an MRI for a possible aneurysm, then my work stuff, and now my grandfather is dying. I found out over the weekend my grandfather was admitted to the hospital for difficulty breathing. They found a polyp or mass or something on his lungs and also drained more than a liter of fluid from his lungs and did a biopsy on Sunday. Yesterday around 6 I was giving the baby a bath when my mom called. The results were in and my Grandpa Wiseman has terminal lung cancer. We don't know yet how long he has left, next week he has an appointment with the oncologist to figure everything out I guess. We do know that he must not have a long time because my grandma asked the dr if she should get my uncle Marc to come right away to see grandpa and they said yes you should. I got a hold of Stephane last night and he is going to try and come for a visit as well but my mom wants him to wait until at least next week, Grandpa should be back home by then. We found out tonight that after my grandfather dies my grandma will be going to live with my mom and Don and she is selling the house, I can't blame her, its a pretty big house and if she's along its going to seem even bigger and lonely and more depressing.
On a more positive note, Ollie crawled yesterday for the first time, well more than just one arm movement forward before face planting, and he's also 'walking' around the apartment if we hold his hands. And the tooth! almost through by the looks of it, but now that I've said that, its not going to show up, he'll be 9 months and toothless.

Let's do the wave!
Guess what Olivier started doing yesterday!? Okay so maybe the title of this post kinda gave it away but he started waving! We've been doing it whenever we say hello or good bye with him for the last 2 months and when Jonathan dropped him off at daycare yesterday he said Ollie waved! YAY! Plus on Monday he pulled himself up in his crib completely on his own for the first time and then proceeded to start jumping up and down in excitement. Today I am going to try and get a video of Olivier waving, he didn't do it this morning when we dropped him off though.
I am officially a red head again! I swear I should have been born with red hair instead of brown, it suits me much better!
And Marc-André is officially out of the hospital as of late yesterday afternoon! He was having a hard time with the pain and they did x-rays on Monday and we thought he wouldn't be out until today at the earliest because of it, but it turns out that he's immune (or something like that) to morphine's effects so they switched him to something else and it was like night and day. He was up walking the hallways and then even walked up and down some stairs! So the dr's said he could go home and he would probably recover better at home too.

Half birthday!
Today Ollie turned 6 months! I can't believe how quickly it all went by! It seems like its only been a few weeks when in fact its over 25 weeks! Wow. So rather than write out a whole post I'm just going to put some of my favorite pictures of the little guy over the last 6 months.
Happy 6 month Birthday little man!

Christmas is coming!
Yesterday Amélie came over and we decorated the tree while Jonathan was at work doing some overtime, we left him the angel so he could put something on it. Ollie didn't want to co-operate too much, he was being Mr. Cranky Pants again. The last two days he's been really cranky, we think either because of gas or because of his teeth. I'm thinking teeth because not long after I gave him some Tylenol last night he calmed down, and he's had some rosy cheeks the last couple of days as well.
When Amélie got here yesterday I handed her Ollie so she could hold him and he burst out crying, a real paniky cry. We were flabberghasted why he did this, he's never cried like that before when someone has held him. And when I tried to show her he could sit, she came on the floor to sit next to us and Ollie had this look on his face, chin quivering, mouth turned down and the 'I'm about to freak out' look so she got back up. Later on we realized that it was her hair! She was wearing it in a pony tail flipped up by a clip so some was sticking up in the back and he didn't like that at all. It was quite funny afterwards and we laughed about, and she took the clip out and was able to hold Olivier and give him bottle before supper time.
And finally a weel after the last time Olivier rolled over from his tummy to his back, he rolled over from his back to his tummy, but I think it was accidental. He was playing with his feet and rolled over, and then got stuck. His legs and lower body were facing down but his arm kept him from fully completing the roll lol.

Nuts for Butternut!
Olivier had butternut squash tonight for the first time! It was love at first taste! Or close to it anyways. He had a few spoonfuls of his barley cereal and then I swooped in with his first taste of veggies...At first he was like, this isn't my cereal, what is this? and then the second spoonful came and he was hooked! Veggie #1 was a success!
It's what time?!
These last few nights have been kind of hard. This week we started to give Ollie cereal at night as well, around supper time, because he was waking up a lot during the night again. Well since we started this baby has never slept more! usually he'll go around 11 hours, falling asleep earlier than usual. I go to bed and half sleep because I'm certain that he'll wake up around 1 or 2 to eat, he always has in the past when he would go to bed before 8. Not once did he wake, I dont even think he moved during that time! Yesterday he didn't get up until 7. Today I woke up at 7.30...nothing. I went in and checked on him, went and did my usual morning when he's waking up soon, and went back to see him, expecting him to be awake but just playing with his blanket quietly like he has been doing...he turned his head sleeping during that 10 minutes but was still asleep....okay then. I text Jonathan to let him know and he says wow what a record. I head to the computer turning it on and such and checking my stuff, a little worried. This isn't normal. FINALLY at 8.30 he wakes up, with a bit of prodding from me, hey he was stirring anyways and it was inevitable he would wake up in the next few minutes, I just helped him along a bit. I remember when I was praying for the days he would sleep 10 hours in a row to give me a bit of uninterrupted sleep, but now that he's doing that, I still don't get to sleep!
