When you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while

Ok so I've been pretty bad this summer about keeping this thing updated but it seems like we are always busy or I just haven't felt like updating. I've been in those kinds of moods lately.

I've been looking for a new job. Applying like crazy because I need to make more money and hours. I'm trying in entry level positions in offices and the government but everyone wants me to have at least some classes in business, but I dont have the money to pay for them and to get that money I need a better job. It's a vicious circle really. I even looked at a part time loan for school but the province of Quebec doesn't offer the part time loan to any out of province schools and none in Quebec offer distance education in English. It sucks bad because although I would like to go back to school full time to be able to get the degree faster, I can't because student loans and working wouldn't give me enough money. It sucks hard. But I need a new job because last week at work I had a mini breakdown, that was not a fun day.

Yesterday I had off because I  worked all weekend and Chantal and I took the kids to the beach because we are going through a heat wave again. It was the first time Olivier went into the lake. At first he wasn't too sure and then a minute later he was sitting in my lap splashing around. He loved it.

This weekend we are going to visit Jonathan's mom in Quebec, it will be nice to get away, and its supposed to be nice and cool and we're going to go apple picking and then there are a few little events going on in the city so we may check out a few.

And so I am going to end this post with some pictures!

I need another story...Tell me what you want to hear...

So first off let me just say that my baby is no longer a baby, but a full blown toddler. He's walking, semi talking and just had his first birthday. This year really did fly by. When I was pregnant the time seemed so long and then just went to warp speed when Ollie was born. Insane.

We had his first (of two) birthday parties on Saturday with my mom, grandma, Marc-Andre, Amelie, Chantal, Tony and Tristan and Kylie. We had cake and snacks and had lots of fun, not doing much, just sitting around talking and playing with the kids and it went by quickly.

This weekend coming up is Ollie's baptism, and everyone is going to be there from all sides of the family, mine and Jonathans. So it will be a long but fun weekend I think. The first time everyone will be together. Can we say stress?

Ok now that all that is out of the way. Ugh. I am seriously over my job and work. I need a change. And soon. Otherwise I may go insane. I love the people I work with and the residents but if I stay there much longer I will end up in the loony bin I think. And I like my sanity (or whatever sanity I may have lol). I need a regular job, a 9-5, Monday to Friday type deal. With vacation time I can actually take without being made to feel bad, and sick days and holidays off. Oh and a lunch time where I can actually sit and eat hot food rather than eating standing up while I work. It's totally depressing. And then I have sick days but if I call in sick, someone is stuck working a 12 hour shift so I technically can't call in sick and if I take vacation time its the same thing. I need a change. A shake up. And a new hair color. Maybe that will help for the short term.

Olivier has his 1 year appointment tomorrow. I had my xrays for my back today and a chiro appointment tomorrow. We'll see what happens at both.

Say What? You got me what?! I got what?!

My little booter is 10 months old on Monday! Only 2 more months and he'll be 1. Yes that's right. 1. When the hell did that happen? I dont think any year has gone as fast as this one. Ever. It just sped along, never bothering to ask if I wanted it to slow down. I guess this just means we're one year closer to potty training? Yea one thing I will not miss is changing diapers, although I am a pro now. I can change a squirming, trying to roll over so I can crawl away or climb something, 10 month old.

I got my pressies from my dad on Thursday. All the things he bought for me while he was away. I got spoiled. Dylan says I've only just realised how spoiled I really am since its the first time I admitted it. I think he was proud of that moment actually....Anyways, back to my presents. First I my dad knows me well...almost too well. Most people would have been like, you got me a mug from starbucks? but I was like, I got a mug from a starbucks in istanbul!! I truly was excited. I heart starbucks...with a passion. One year for Christmas he got me a coffee grinder and kilo of starbucks beans. That was a great christmas.....anyways, moving on. Then I got this little trinkety bronzy thingy from egypt, it opens up and is lined with velvet, I can put my earrings I wear everyday in there or rings (if I had any lol) or whatever in there. I really like and its deceptively heavy. After that I got...a pashmina scarf. At first I was like wtf? Never in my have I ever wanted one. 2 minutes after opening it though, I decided I want more. Many more. Then I got a book mark, papyrus with my name in hieroglyphics on it. OH! And I got a pretty new leather purse from Istanbul as well. It's now my everyday purse. Then came a curiously shaped gift, the box was sloped and kind of rounded. Hmmmm I thought, what could this be? As soon as I opened it I kinda freaked out a little. I got pearls! Thats right people. Pearls. And not just a pair of earrings, or a bracelet. I got the whole kit! Necklace, earrings and bracelet. After that I can't tell you what I got because nothing tops pearls from dubai!

It's been how long?!? Are you sure it wasn't yesterday?

My little booter is 9 months old today! This is really the first time where I was like, Wow, he's getting so big! Where did the time go? I've been so enthralled watching him get bigger and doing more things I didn't actually realize he was getting bigger! This week was a week of milestones! On Monday he started crawling, and then on Wednesday he finally got his first tooth! Its been 6 days and Ollie has become a crawling machine, he goes all over the place, his latest obsession is the recycling bin so we put that out on the patio for now, it has to be emptied anyways and then we will put it in the laundry room. We have to put up the baby gates now, but we are having a hard time figuring it out. We want to block off the bathroom because Ruby's litter box is in there but we can't because Ruby's litter box is in there and until she learns to jump the gates she'll be stuck. Then I wanted to put it in the hallway  but the litter box issue is in play again. Speaking of Miss Ruby she's been sitting around the baby when he plays on the floor, as if she's baby sitting him lol. But the second he gets close she's on the run :P she knows him well enough to know that he'll get a fistful of fur or pull on her tail or paws if he sees an opening. He got her tail the other day, all she did was let out a little cry but stayed where she was, didn't try to run away or anything. She is getting much better with him, he doesn't scare her anymore either.

Just the two....errrr three of us!

So when I was 5 months pregnant my aunt told us about my cousins baby always sleeping in bed with him and his fiancee. Jonathan I were adamant from the first day Olivier would sleep in his own crib. And he did! From the first night he was home, thats where he slept. And he was a pretty good sleeper too! We had the odd night where one of us would sleep with him on our chest on the couch but never in bed. Until the first time he got a cold, we were in Halifax and my dads guest room as 2 twin beds, Ollie slept with me in my bed and after that back into his own. No problems. Well these past 2 weeks it's all changed. 2 weeks ago Olivier got a cold. A bad one, he was so congested in his nose he wouldn't sleep anywhere, not in his crib or his swing (which we still use on occasion). So Jonathan would lay down with him so Olivier would nap. No big deal it was just a bit harder to put him down for a nap but for the most part the night time was okay. Then 2 days later, he woke up one night and would not go back to bed. I had to work the next day so I brought him into bed with us...big mistake. He has now slept with us every night since. He was back to napping in his bed...until this past weekend when he got yet another cold (stupid day care germs!) this time he had a really bad cough and chest congestion. No napping anywheres but in our bed. Last night I though we had a breakthrough! I was able to put Olivier to sleep and in bed by 7.30! Then he woke up up screaming an hour later after coughing. Jonathan went to bed with him. He loves sleeping in bed with us, he's out like a light within minutes and sleeps great. He wakes up now and then but he just sits up between the two of us and plays with the blankets or crawls on one of us. We've created a co-sleeping monster.

Today me and Olivier went for a walk and found a park! The first visit to a park! He went in the swings for the first time and loved it! I'll put a few more pictures at the end of the post. The faster and higher he went the more and more he laughed. I believe as Ollie gets older we will be making many hospital visits because I swear he's a daredevil. His absolute favorite thing is to be thrown around, and pretend to 'fall'. We pretend to throw him in the air and then drop him (from a foot off the bed) onto the bed and you'll never hear this kid laugh louder. He'll be jumping up and down in his crib and fall over and think its hilarious. What have I gotten myself into? lol

Baby Jail

So we lowered Oliviers mattress this weekend, it looks like he's in baby jail when he sits up, it's kinda cute! He wasn't sure at first but now I think he prefers it. When I put him in there so I can get stuff done or go on the computer to check my email he can see better because the bumper is down low and not blocking his view anymore.

Tonight we went and saw a daycare, in home. I didn't want in home but since no centers have called us yet (we're on the waitlist....since Ollie was born) it looks like we have to go with in home for now. Honestly I doubt that I will like anyone as much as I probably should. Ollie liked Habiba and her husband and their 3 daughters, he didn't cry or fuss once when she took him or when Jonathan and I both left the room, which is good because he cries when my mom or Gandma Wiseman even look at him for the first hour, then he lets my mom take him, but not my grandma. If they take us then he will start next week with two mornings. We should know in 48 hours if we have been chosen. But I told Jonathan I still want to keep looking, I would much rather him in a center than in an in home daycare.

Ollie had a play date last week with Lilly again. She's gotten big! She's a month and a half younger than Ollie but is the same size and just looks older. She sure knows how to make the boys cry though! All she had to do was play with a toy dog and make him talk and Ollie was screeching his head off, which in turn made Lilly freak out, and then Ollie freak out more....you get the picture. Somehow I only managed to get a picture of Lilly crying though.

And its getting really nice and warm outside. We've gone for several walks over the last few days, its gotten up to 9 or higher most of the time. I got a few good pictures from mine and Ollie's first walk in the nice weather.

How'd you do that?

So yesterday was kinda uneventful but eventful at the same time. Ollie fussed all afternoon and then when Jonathan got home from work we went to Costco because we needed to get stuff like kleenex and toilet paper etc. Ollie threw up 2 times, I had to take him to the bathroom the second time to clean him up *note to self: bring kleenex with you everywhere* When we were paying at the cash he completely charmed the cashier and he gave a pout as we left, silly boy. We got home and I took Ollie out of all of his gross thrown up on close and just put him in his crib in his diaper so I could wash the dishes. Afterward I went to check on him before starting the laundry and I found him, diaper undone, the little bugger undid it lol. I of course took a picture and he couldn't have looked any prouder.

The first picture I posted I had been trying to get a picture of Ollie while he was fussing, I don't have any and I want one! But wouldn't you know my sneak attack wouldn't work because as soon as he saw the camera he was all smiles!

Today is supposed to  be another nice day (not a cloud in the sky as I look out the window) so Ollie and I are taking a walk to go and let him pick out his present for Auntie Amélie's birthday this weekend!

You have got to be kidding me!

Now thats a face I love to see in the morning! I took this, along with a few others, the other day when Ollie was playing in his crib, he was supposed to be napping (just like right now, he's supposed to be sleeping but I can hear baby giggles coming from his crib). Ollie has decided that he no longer wants to sleep through the night and in fact he would rather not fall asleep at all. What he doesn't know is that mama always wins and he will fall asleep at some point, no matter how much he fights it!

Yesterday we went and got Olivier his new car seat! He was getting too long for his infant one and was always crying when we would put him in it so i guess he was feeling stuck as well. After a trip to sears to buy it, then another one to return it then another trip to toys r us we ended up getting Ollie an Evenflo Symphony. After he woke up from his nap I put him in it and he didn't cry one time, in fact he was laughing and smiling so I guess he likes it, we'll put it in the car today when Jonathan gets home from work. I got 2 pictures of him in it and everyone keeps commenting on how small he looks, but it was made to start with babies at 5 lbs so I can only imagine how small they would look if Ollie, who is probably around 17 lbs give or take (more give than take I think) looks small.
